Cowboy Vest

Hello Peeps! This is my very first posting and I migrated this post from a previous blog of mine, hence the laggard time for this Halloween project. I have always envied others who celebrated Halloween...the costume parties, the trick-or-treating, the pumpkin carvings and the haunted attractions. In our country, Halloween is not celebrated in a big way. I'd like to be dressed as Lady Gaga if I'd only had an invitation to one. Now wouldn't that be of such spooky fun?

So last year, when my son was invited to a Halloween p-a-r-t-e-e, I got very excited! Ian was dressed as a pirate, the year before last and since it was practically last minute, I had to do something simple that didn't require a sewing machine and something that could easily be whipped up in a day!

Here's Ian dressed as a pirate year before last.

To begin, here are the items that you'll need:
* 2 types of coloured felt * Scissors * Glue gun
* Embroidery thread * Needle & Thread
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let's begin

1. To make a cowhide cowboy vest, purchase 2 types of coloured felt that you like. For mine here, I used black & white.

2. Use an existing vest that you have as your pattern.
3. Using the pattern, cut out the base of the vest with white felt. Cut 3 portions being the back and 2 sides.

4. Stitch the 3 portions of the vest, with stitch inside out.
5. Using chain stitch method, stitch around the edges of the vest with black embroidery thread.

6. Cut out various sizes of irregular cowhide spots from the black felt.
7. After you are satisfied with placing the cowhide spots onto the vest, glue them with a hotglue gun.

...and VOILA, you're done!
